Is Text Messaging Still Cool for Promtoting Parties?

Mass texting your parties, really?  Well, it’s still a great form of promoting in my books!

Every day I get a number of text messages from promoter friends inviting me out to parties.  While I’m thankful to still be in the loop, I’m also analyzing exactly what they are sending to see it it actually grabs my attention.

The best nightlife brands have mobile optimized version of their website (www.mansionmiami.com/mobile_dev/index.php) that encourage users to come to their site from their text messages to increase revenue and ticket sales.

The best promoters are engaging their text list on a personal level, calling me out by first name!  Albeit, the text must be relevant and timely while meeting my individual needs.  Obviously these promoters haven’t figured out that I really don’t go out much anymore (married), but I still let them text me so I can feel like I’m in the loop.

In terms of response rate, the SIMPLE text message is much better than a 3-part message with an image attached.  That’s like spam on my phone, I don’t like it.

Reasons Why You Should Continue Texting:

  • 77% of the population of the world own a mobile phone.
  • Of all the texs sent on a daily basis, 98% are opened, with 83% opened within 3 minutes
  • While only 6% of marketing emails are responded to, texting campaigns have seen as much as 45% response rates

In other words, texting has a higher response rate from direct communication than telemarketing, email, or post.

Why it Works

  • Speed: Text messages are delivered almost instantly, with the user engaged in a matter of seconds wherever they are in the world.
  • Flexibility: The variety that text marketing offers is almost endless. Messages can deliver text alerts, subscriptions to your newsletters, broadcast a party, competitions for bottles, campaigns for customer loyalty, customer profiling and reminders.
  • Response: As previously mentioned, text message campaigns have a very high response rate. This can be put down to the ease and speed by which users can reply, with relatively little effort.
  • Personal: Messages can be easily customized with first name (have to find the right service)
  • Cheap: Lastly, and potentially crucially, text messages are cheap.  Do the research to find the right one for you.
